What is Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a talking therapy where we concentrate on both the positive things in your life and the things you may want to do differently. We use guided relaxation (otherwise known as trance), and this enables the subconscious mind to concentrate and focus on the things you want to achieve.

The initial consultation.
During the FREE initial consultation we will discuss the reasons that have brought you to hypnotherapy. We will then run through a simple explanation of how the brain works in different situations and how we can change the way we see and react to things. We will also discuss the structure of the following sessions and I will give you a free relaxation MP3 or CD for you to listen to at home.

What happens during a hypnotherapy session?
A typical session lasts 55 minutes. The first part is a discussion about your week, what good things have happened, what things are different etc. The second part is the relaxation.

Relaxation (or Trance)
During the relaxation (also known as trance), you will be aware and able to hear my voice, noises around you etc. A good way of describing trance is to think of some everyday activities you do, for example running. While running you can often find yourself thinking of other things or daydreaming but it does not mean that you are not in control, you’re still be aware of the path, your route, the weather etc., and you would react immediately if needed. Relaxation or trance in a hypnotherapy session is the same but with more focus on the positive goals that you wish to achieve.
